JAQUES OF LONDON

AD – GIFTED

I adore traditional toys for Elliot’s nursery and playroom. There’s nothing better than a mix of high quality educational games and toys on display to catch your child’s eye. There’s also something quite special about fancy packaging that makes us parents get a little excited too. I guess that first impressions really do count.

When I came across a company called Jaques of London, founded in 1795 I knew that I was onto a winner. Their core values are joy and play. Less screen time, more real play. It’s all about spending more family time together. They have a huge range of inspiring toys and games, which are suitable for all ages and are designed by UK teachers.

We chose a London wooden bus and a wooden Noah’s Ark. Both toys arrived in the signature packaging with hand tied ribbon; they are very well made and great value for money. These would make a beautiful gift for any child.

The London wooden bus is a classic British toy with figures that slot into the seats upstairs and downstairs. It has a removable upper deck and is made from solid wood. This bus toy uses your child’s imagination to encourage more creative thoughts. Elliot pushed it around the room and babbled to the passenger figures. It’s given him confidence to try new things and is pushing him to play more independently and complete tasks alone.

The wooden Noah’s Ark is made up of two storeys, a folding bridge and includes a shape sorter at the back of the toy. This gives hours of endless play as you can organise the animals, sort by colours, push the figures through the shape sorter and walk them along the bridge. This toy shows the concept of space and is very bright and colourful.
